1. Individual arrival in Siena, after 2:00 PM private transfer to San Quirico d’Orcia. Meeting with our staff, dinner on your own, and overnight stay at Hotel, Residence, and Spa Casanova. (A 4-star hotel is available upon request at an additional cost).
2. PIENZA, MONTEPULCIANO AND MONTICCHIELLO (56 km – Elevation gain: 910m). The landscapes of the Val d'Orcia region, one of the most beautiful place in Tuscany and UNESCO world heritage site. Visit of Pienza, the "ideal" city of the Renaissance time, also famous for its Pecorino cheese. A quick stop at Montepulciano, with its winding streets and squares. Monticchiello, a small medieval and charming town. Bagno Vignoni, cute medieval town where the main square of the village is a big thermal pool which contains the original source of thermal water. Take a relax break from the cycling journey and enjoy the SPA before dinner. Dinner on your own and accommodation at Hotel Casanova. (A 4-star hotel is available upon request at an additional cost).
3. MONTALCINO AND BAGNO VIGNONI (54 km – Elevation gain: 1180m). Start of the stage with a steep climb towards Castiglione d’Orcia and Rocca d’Orcia; the stunning panorama will reward the effort of the ascent. The Abbey of Sant'Antimo, one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Tuscany. Cycling towards Montalcino, a medieval town surrounded by prestigious vineyards and home to Brunello wine.Stop at one of the wineries along the route to taste some fine wine. Return to San Quirico d’Orcia with a continuous series of ups and downs. Dinner on your own and overnight stay at Hotel Casanova. (A 4-star hotel is available upon request at an additional cost).
4. CRETE SENESI AND SIENA (57 km – elevation gain: 890m). An unforgettable ride surrounded by the views of the Crete Senesi to the edge of the Chianti. The Crete Senesi region, where badlands and biancane characterize the landscape in this part of Tuscany. Monte Oliveto Maggiore abbey, one of the most important and best preserved monastic complexes in Tuscany. A short break at Asciano with its churches and museums. Siena at the horizon, the visit of this beautiful city will make unique your experience in Tuscany. Dinner on your own and accommodation in 3-star hotel located in the city center of Siena. 5. CHIANTI REGION (58 km - elevation gain: 1160m). Castelnuovo Berardenga and the Landscape Museum. Villa a Sesta, a small gem of Chianti.
With a short detour on a dirt road, you can visit the Castle of Brolio, dating back to the 11th century and owned by the Ricasoli family since 1141.
Gaiole, the town where the Eroica event was born in 1997. Radda in Chianti, with its alleys and walls offering an unmissable view of the vineyards. Dinner on your own and overnight stay at Palazzo Leopoldo.
6. PANZANO AND GREVE IN CHIANTI ON THE ROAD TO FLORENCE (53 km - elevation gain: 660m). The entire route set in the heart of Chianti Fiorentino. Panzano in Chianti and the famous "ciccia" of Cecchini. Greve in Chianti with its renowned triangular stone Piazza.
