- Individual arrival in Siena, dinner on your own and overnight stay at a 3-star hotel or a hotel/residence with a pool and parking. While staying in Siena, you will have the opportunity to visit the first UNESCO World Heritage site, the historic center of Siena. Meet our staff, who will explain the itinerary for your journey. - BUONCONVENTO AND MONTALCINO (55 km – Elevation gain: 1080m). You will leave Siena behind, cycling through the landscapes of the Val d’Arbia until you reach Ville di Corsano. - You will intersect the route of L’Eroica, passing through Murlo, a charming little village. - Descend towards Buonconvento, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, which is definitely worth a visit or a lunch in one of the local restaurants. - Then, you'll climb towards Montalcino, a medieval town surrounded by fine vineyards and the home of Brunello wine. Stop at one of the wineries along the route to taste some great wine.
The alternative route along the L’Eroica roads will allow you to cycle on dirt roads in the first part of the stage, passing through the typical countryside of the Val d’Arbia. This stage will allow you to discover two UNESCO World Heritage sites: the Val d’Orcia and the historic center of Pienza. - The Abbey of Sant’Antimo, one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Tuscany. - Castiglione d’Orcia and Rocca d’Orcia, where the panoramic views will reward you for the climb. - Bagno Vignoni, a charming medieval village with a thermal water basin in the center of the square. - San Quirico d’Orcia, one of the most representative towns of the Val d’Orcia, with a historic center full of bars, restaurants, and small shops. - The breathtaking landscapes of the Val d’Orcia, one of the most picturesque locations in all of Tuscany and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Before reaching Pienza, you’ll be able to admire the famous Vitaleta Chapel on your right, one of the most photographed churches in Tuscany. - Visit Pienza, the "ideal" Renaissance city, also famous for its pecorino cheese. Enjoy a stroll through the town center before dinner and take in the panoramic terrace, offering views of the entire Val d’Orcia. - CRETE SENESI REGION TO CHIANTI (60 km - Elevation gain: 1160 meters). An unforgettable bike ride surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Crete Senesi, leading to the gates of the Chianti region. - After a few kilometers, you can visit the Monastery of Sant'Anna in Camprena, also famous for being featured in the film The English Patient. - The Crete Senesi, where the calanchi and biancane alternate in this captivating terrain. - Castelmuzio and Montisi, small villages off the beaten path. - Passing through San Giovanni d’Asso, the heart of the white truffle region of the Crete Senesi. - A short stop in Asciano, the center of the Crete Senesi, rich in churches and museums. - Cycling along the Via Lauretana, an ancient Etrusco-Roman road that connects Cortona, Montepulciano, and Siena. - CHIANTI AND THE BROLIO CASTLE - (58 km - Elevation gain: 1020m). Villa a Sesta, a small village in the Chianti region. - The Brolio Castle, a symbol of Chianti, with excellent wines to taste. Before heading towards Gaiole in Chianti, you'll have the opportunity to visit Brolio Castle, the heart and symbol of the estate, dating back to the 11th century and owned by the Ricasoli family since 1141. - Radda in Chianti, with its narrow streets and walls offering an unmissable view of the vineyards. Radda is a great place to stop for lunch and enjoy the atmosphere of this medieval town. Arrival in Castellina in Chianti, an ancient medieval village caught in the historic struggle between Siena and Florence. Dinner on your own and overnight stay at a 4-star hotel.
- SAN DONATO, CERTALDO AND SAN GIMIGNANO (50 km - Elevation gain: 680m). San Donato in Poggio and Tavarnelle, exploring the hills covered with rows of vineyards and vast olive groves. - Certaldo, the magical village of Boccaccio. You can make a slight detour from the route to reach Certaldo Alto, where the oldest part of the town is located. - Climbing towards San Gimignano, the famous medieval village known for its beautiful towers. The road leading to San Gimignano will offer breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and the iconic towers of San Gimignano. - Thanks to the strategic location of the hotel, situated in the main square of San Gimignano, you'll have the chance to visit the final UNESCO World Heritage site of this trip: the historic center of San Gimignano. - ABBADIA ISOLA AND MONTERIGGIONI (49 km - Elevation gain: 680m). With a long descent, you’ll leave the towers of San Gimignano behind. - Colle Val d’Elsa, the city of crystal. The route will take you through the old town before heading towards Monteriggioni. - Abbadia Isola, a Benedictine monastery founded at the beginning of the 1st millennium. - Monteriggioni, discovering one of the best-preserved medieval villages, with its fortified walls surrounding the town. Returning to Siena, you’ll pass through the Montagnola Senese, surrounded by a predominantly wooded landscape.
