- Individual arrival in Assisi. You will start your bike tour from Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage site and popular pilgrimage destination, being closely linked to Saint Francis and Saint Clare. The Basilicae dedicated to the two saints of Assisi are a must-see during your visit of this magnificent medieval town. In the late afternoon, bike delivery and briefing. Overnight stay in Assisi.
- ASSISI – SPELLO – MONTEFALCO – BEVAGNA – TORGIANO (65 km / +550 m). This morning you have time to wander through the streets of Spello and to visit the church of S. Maria Maggiore where Pinturicchio left us one of his masterpieces. The itinerary continues in the Spoleto Valley and, after a short but steep climb, you will arrive in Montefalco, known as 'the Railing of Umbria', due to the magnificent view you can enjoy from this town. The next stop will be Bevagna, whose main square offers a pleasant medieval appearance, thanks to its two Romanesque churches and the town hall. The stage ends in Torgiano, overlooking the Tiber valley. Here, in the Graziano-Baglioni Palace, you will find the Wine Museum, which is definitely worth a visit. Overnight stay in Torgiano.
- VISITING PERUGIA (34 km / +500 m). Today you visit the neighbouring town of Perugia. Its medieval town centre, characterized by little alleyways, is at the highest point of the town. Perugia is a lively and vibrant place, renowned for its renaissance palaces, churches and museums. After your visit, you will get back to the peaceful, hospitable town of Torgiano. Overnight stay in Torgiano.
- TORGIANO – PASSIGNANO ON LAKE TRASIMENO (51 km / +475 m). After a ride through a rolling landscape, you will finally get to Passignano, where you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of Trasimeno lake and its islands. But first you will pass through the little fishing village of S. Feliciano, where boats leave for the Polvese Island. Cycling along the gravel bike path, you will then reach Passignano, a town located on the shore of the lake, where you can find history and nature, art and folklore, peace and vitality. You can relax at the beach close to the town centre or visit the only inhabited island in the lake, Isola Maggiore. Overnight stay in Passignano.
- PASSIGNANO – UMBERTIDE (47 km / +840 m). Today’s route runs through an unspoiled scenery to the quiet little town of Umbertide, whose town centre is dominated by the majestic tower of the medieval fortress dating back to 1385. It is a hilly ride with gorgeous views. After a climb, you reach Castel Rigone, overlooking the lake. Then, the ride continues along a ridge with nice views on both sides. A well-deserved descent brings you into the Tiber Valley. Overnight stay in Umbertide.
- UMBERTIDE – GUBBIO (58 km / +900 m). Once out of Umbertide you will go uphill to Montone, a small typical Umbrian walled town, where time seems to have stood still for centuries. Then you will cross another small hilltop town, Pietralunga, before reaching the fortified town of Gubbio. It is worth visiting the impressive palaces, the Roman theatre and the monastery of S. Ubaldo, which is built at an altitude of 827m and can be reached by cable car. Overnight stay in Gubbio.
- GUBBIO – ASSISI (59 km / +810 m). At the beginning of this last leg of the tour, you still have some hard climbing to do through a rolling still-life landscape, but after that you will find a well-deserved easy descent. It is a day full of stunning views of hills, mountains and small villages, that ends with a final climb to reach Assisi. Cycling through the centre of this little town, you will see its most important monuments, such as the Basilica of St. Francis, the temple of Minerva and the Basilica of St. Clare. Overnight stay in Assisi.
